Local Fourth of July Events Planned

If you haven’t decided how you and your family will celebrate our nation’s birthday this year, several events have been scheduled in, and around, Macon County including a Pre-Fourth of July Celebration at The White House Assisted Living in Lafayette, an Independence Day Parade in Hartsville, and a Fourth of July celebration & BBQ in Hermitage Springs.

 

  • Lafayette: Everyone is invited to a Pre-4th of July Celebration on Tuesday, July 3, at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn at The White House Assisted Living. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music presented by the Flat Rock Ramblers. Serving an All-American meal of hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies & drinks until 8 p.m. Fireworks at dusk. This event is free to attend but a $1 donation will be charged per plate to go towards the Annie Butler Scholarship fund.

  • Hartsville: Hartsville July 4 Parade & Music in the Park –Wednesday, July 4th at 4 p.m. Participants need to arrive at 3 p.m. for the line up on Andrews Ave. After the parade, there will be food, fun and live entertainment in the park at 5 p.m. including a cakewalk (6:30 p.m.), a watermelon eating contest (6:15 p.m.), and lots of activities for the kiddos. Community Band will headline the musical entertainment at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will kick off at sundown. An awards ceremony will be head after the parade. Floats of all shapes and colors/all types of entries are welcome! There is new award this year for “Most Patriotic Pup” so bring your dogs with you. Entry fees will be a donation to the Trousdale County veterans. If you have any questions, please call your parade director, Amber Russell at 615-808-1054.

  • Hermitage Springs: Hermitage Springs Volunteer Fire Department BBQ & Fireworks – Saturday, June 30 at the Hermitage Springs Park (Hwy 52). BBQ begins at 10:30 a.m. Fireworks begin at dark. New this year, the event will include a car, and truck. Folks can register their vehicles for the show between 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the first 50 to register will receive dash plaques. The cost to register is $15, and 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will be awarded. Live music will begin later in the evening (around 6 p.m.) featuring Super Novacaine. This event is free to attend, however donations to the Hermitage Springs Fire Department are appreciated. This year’s event will also include Bingo at 3 p.m. and a silent auction and door prizes.
