Macon County Teen Dies in Auto Accident

Our community is mourning another Macon County teen who lost his life in a single-vehicle automobile accident last Wednesday night, July 25. 

 

According to the accident report, Tanner was traveling westbound on Highway 52 in a 1998 Jeep Wrangler around 11 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the eastbound lane and struck a guardrail on the south side of the roadway. His vehicle then overturned and traveled down an embankment, ejecting him from the vehicle.

The preliminary incident report states that Tanner was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident 

Tanner Jack Cleary, age 19, was a 2017 graduate of Macon County High School. 

Funeral Services for Tanner were conducted, Sunday, July 29, from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette. 

He is survived by his parents Ron and Karen (Sloan) Cleary; brother and Sister-in-law Justin and Loren Prock, all of Lafayette; Sister  Jenna Prock, of Hermitage; Grandmother Linda Sloan, of the Siloam Community in Macon County; niece Eliza Prock; nephews Armani, Amore, and Brayden Stanfill; uncles Mike and wife, Sandy Cleary, Mark and wife, Beckie Cleary, Randy Cleary, all of Indianapolis, IN, Jimmy Cleary, Dewayne and wife, Terilyn Sloan, all of Lafayette; Aunts Nancy Anderson, of Indianapolis, IN, Katharine and husband, Michael Bickerton, of Westmoreland, and Cindy Cleary, of Indianapolis, IN, several cousins and numerous friends.
