Junior Tigers Blast Friendship Christian

In the 2018 season opener, the Macon County Junior High Tigers brought home a 28-0 win over the Friendship Commanders.

Macon wasted little time getting on the board. On 3rd down of their first possession quarterback Hayden Wix scrambled for a 63 yard score and the two point conversion failed. Macon led 6-0 with 6:51 left in the 1st. Two plays into their next possession Garon Cline ran away from the defense for a 62 yard score. JB Carter added the conversion and with 2:49 left in the 1st Macon led 14-0.  Midway into the 2nd Tiger Nate Green picked off a Commander pass and returned it 42 yards for a score. The conversion failed and Macon led 20-0 at the half.

Both squads traded possessions in the 3rd quarter and in the first possession of the 4th Wix hit Cline on a 55 yard touchdown pass. Cline then made the conversion and at the 6:25 mark Macon led 28-0. The Tigers were able to get a lot of their subs in to finish out the game and the final ended 28-0.

Tiger Hayden Wix was 1 for 2 passing for 55 yards and a TD and rushed 1 time for 63 yards and a score. Nate Green ran 6 times for 21 yards and had a pick six. Garon Cline ran 5 times for 84 yards and a TD, had 1 reception for 55 yards and a TD, and had a two point conversion. JB Carter carried the ball 2 times for 1 yard and had a two point conversion. Jordan Rogers ran 3 times for 24 yards. On defense Mayson Swindle (7) led all tacklers followed by Green(6), and Rawley Ritchie (5) and Levin Elmore (5).

Macon County Junior High is scheduled to face Jim B Satterfield School in Hartsville on Tuesday night Aug 21st. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
