Jackets Sting Junior Tigers
On Tuesday Aug 21st the Jim B Satterfield Jackets held on to beat the Macon County Junior High Tigers. The game was decided late in the 4th quarter.
The Jackets Brian Banks returned to opening kick-off for a touchdown. Following a failed two point try Trousdale led 6-0. With 5:42 left in the half Kyle Shockly ran it in to give the Jackets a 12-0 lead. The Tigers came right back and Nate Green scored on a 68 yard run with 1:54 left in the 2nd quarter. Following a failed Macon conversion the teams went to the half with the Jackets leading 12-6.
Macon came out from the half and struck on their first possession. Hayden Wix hit Garon Cline for a 41 yard touchdown pass. With 5:50 left in the 3rd the teams were tied 12-12. With 5:59 left in the game Cline broke free for a 62 yard score for the Tigers. The conversion failed again and Macon led 18-12. On the next possession Shockly scored from 1 yard out and the only two point conversion, made by Cole Gregory, was the deciding factor at the 3:39 mark in the final period. Final score JB Satterfield Middle 20 Macon Junior High 18.
For the game for the Tigers Wix was 1 for 1 passing with a touchdown and he rushed 5 times for 46 yards. Green rushed 13 times for 84 yards and a score and Cline rushed 11 times for 83 yards and a score. Cline had the single reception for 41 yards and a score. Mayson Swindle(10) led all tacklers followed by Levin Elmore(9), Green(5), and Rawley Ritchie(4).
For the Jackets quarterback Kyle Shockly was 2 of 6 for 58 yards and an interception and he rushed 8 times for 8 yards and 2 TDs. Gregory ran the ball 15 times for 98 yards, while Banks ran 6 times for 18 yards, and Kobyn Calhoun ran 3 times for 11 yards. Gregory had 1 catch for 56 yards and Calhoun had 1 catch for 2 yards. Information on the Jackets tackles was incomplete.
The MCJHS Tigers are scheduled to travel to Upperman on Aug 30 and kick-off is slated for 6:30 pm in Baxter.
