Gordonsville wins big over Bulldogs

Last Friday night was not a good game for the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs as Gordonsville came to the Dog Pound and put a 44-14 whipping on the Bulldogs.

A very large crowd on both sides of the stadium made very little noise as Gordonsville jumped out to a early 22-0 advantage and led at halftime by a score of 28-0 and the Tigers used 25 players in the first half. The Tigers used all of their players by the end of the game. By using a lot of backups gives the Tigers a lot of rested players for the second half. The Tigers had two touchdowns called back because of penalties and those kept the score within reach for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the third quarter with 6:55 left in the quarter as Bulldog quarterback Hunter Kirk faked a hand-off to Joe Rose and Kirk circled down the left sideline from 45 yards out. Two Tigers would give chase but Kirk had too much speed and into the end zone for a Bulldog touchdown. The Bulldogs fans had something to cheer about. The Tigers would answer right back on a 45 yard pass and run to the end zone to make the score 36-7 with 4:30 left in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs Dalton Thompson scored a touchdown in the 4th quarter on a 25 yard scamper and the 2 point conversion was good. The score now stands 36-14 Tigers. The Tigers would add a late touchdown to make the final score 44-14 Tigers. A nice shout out to the officials for a outstanding job as they kept the game under control and not much complaining from the coaches and players.

There was some great line blocking on offense and without question this was their best game of the year from the offense line. These kids play both sides of the ball without much rest and they deserve some quality attention. Now some stats: Dalton Thompson 7 tackles plus 2 assist and 1 touchdown, Joe Rose 5 tackles plus 2 assist, Hunter Kirk 4 tackles plus 2 assist and 1 touchdown and 131 yards rushing, Spencer Harp 3 tackles and 1 fumble recovery, Shelby Stone 6 tackles plus 2 hurries, Devin Justice 4 tackles plus 2 assist and 1 quarterback sack.

The Bulldogs hit the road this Friday night as they head to Jackson County who are also winless. Good luck to the Bulldogs.
