MCHS golf hosts final match of regular season

The Macon County High School golf teams had their final two matches of the regular season this past week.

Many people do not know that many sports at MCHS are competing in the large school division of the TSSAA. This means that they are competing with the largest schools in the state.

On Tuesday Sep 4th Macon County hosted Lebanon and Wilson Central High School. McKaylee Mix was the low medalist for the women with a 78 while Carson Roddy shot an 81. Macon County’s 159 was the low team score over Lebanon’s 166 and Wilson’s 165.

The men’s match was much closer. Isaac Meador was the low medalist with a 69 followed by Landon Polston’s 71, Matthew Henderson’s 86, Hayden Shockley’s 86, and Noah Hale’s 94 for Macon County. The Tigers shot a 312 but lost to Lebanon’s 307 and Wilson’s 308.

Macon County also hosted a match against Station Camp and Mt. Juliet on Thursday Sep 6th. The teams played about 7 or 8 holes before the weather forced a cancellation of the match.

Macon County will next play in their district tournament at Long Hollow Golf Course in Gallatin. Teams in Region 5 District 9 are: Beech, Gallatin, Greenbrier, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Mt Juliet, Portland, Station Camp, White House, and Wilson Central.
