One Airlifted Following Wreck

On Monday afternoon, September 17, Trooper Cody Ballard worked a two vehicle wreck on Highway 52 East at Thompson Diesel, that resulted in a female passenger being airlifted to Nashville for medical treatment.

 

According to Trooper Ballard, 38-year-old Jorge Cortes, of Red Boiling Springs, was driving a 2003 Honda Odyssey van, with a female passenger. Jimmy Lankford, age 21, of Lafayette, was driving a 2011 Dodge truck. Mr. Lankford was attempting to turn at Thompson Diesel when Mr. Cortes vehicle slammed into the back of Mr. Lankford’s.

Mr. Cortes’ passenger was carried by air to Skyline Hospital and he was transported by ground for treatment.

This wreck is under investigation.

Those responding to the scene were the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Office, Macon County EMS, Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Rescue Squad, and the Macon County Chronicle.
