Macon Junior High Defeats Smith County
The Macon County Junior High Tigers defeated the Smith County Junior High Owls on Sep 11th at homecoming.
The Tigers struck first on an 82 yard run by Nate Green. The conversion failed and Macon led 6-0 with 0:02 left in the 1st quarter. With 3:32 left in the half Garon Cline scored on a 58 yard run and the conversion failed. Macon led 12-0 at the break.
At the 1:47 mark in the 3rd period Tiger quarterback Hayden Wix hit Cline on an 87 touchdown pitch-and-catch. The conversion failed and macon led 18-0. Smith County was able to tack on a late score but simply could not overcome the big plays that the Tigers were able to make. Final score macon 18 Smith 6.
For the game Wix was 1 of 1 passing for 87 yards and a TD and rushed 2 times for 17 yards. Nate Green had 86 yardss on 8 carries and a score and Garon Cline had 64 yards on 8 carries and a score. Mayson Swindle (10) led all tacklers followed by Taylor Hobbs (5), Devin Amalfitano (4), Cline (4), Riley Bolton (4), and Levin Elmore (4).
The Junior Tigers will be back in action on Sep 20th when they are scheduled to host the DeKalb County Middle School Saints. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm at Pat Parker Memorial Field.
