Brothers’ Fight Leads to Marijuana Plants
By Jessie Williams
A fight amongst brothers led local authorities to over 50 marijuana plants drying out inside a shower on Friday, November 30.
According to the affidavit of complaint filed by arrested officer Deputy Bryan Emberton, he was dispatched to a residence on Elzie Williams Rd. for a domestic dispute between two brothers.
Once he arrived, Deputy Emberton observed 24-year-old Cody Dailey sitting on the porch with a large cut on his eye.
Cody’s mother was questioned and stated that she woke up to him and his brother Luke arguing, and when she came out of her room she witnessed Luke punch Cody in the eye several times, cutting his eye.
Cody told police he and his brother were drinking and got into a verbal argue, which escalated into a physical altercation. Cody also admitted to slamming Luke against a wall.
Luke told authorities the same story and was arrested for domestic assault and public intoxication.
The two men’s mother invited officers inside the home to observe the damage Luke had done to the house.
Officer Emberton then stated he came to a bathroom door that was open and smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside.
Inside the bathroom, the officer discovered over 50 marijuana plants being dried out for the purpose of resale.
Cody Dailey stated the plants were his, and he was charged with domestic violence, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture of narcotics.
His bond was set at $5,500 and he is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on December 12.
