Fire Destroys Outbuilding, Threatens Home

 By Debbie Gregory

The Lafayette Fire Department was called to a structure fire on March 15, at 6825 Scottsville Road, that destroyed an outbuilding and threatened the home next to it.

According to Fire Chief Troy Brawner the fire department received the call at 8:41 a.m. last Friday, and upon arrival they found a 24×30 wood frame outbuilding heavily involved. “The fire was threatening the nearby residence when we got there, with the heat melting the exterior siding on the home,” said Chief Brawner. “But we were able to contain the fire to the outbuilding, which was destroyed.”

There were 9 firefighters on the scene, and Chief Brawner was in charge of the fire site.

Those responding included the Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Macon County EMS, and the Macon County Chronicle.

The building and home belongs to Robin Barton.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.
