Tigers come from behind at Portland

The Macon County Tiger baseball team had a come from behind victory to start the week at Portland.

On Monday the Tigers faced the Panthers in a non-conference game. Trailing most of the game the Tigers were able to post four runs in the top of the 6th inning to grab the 6-5 come-from-behind win. Logan Thompson went the distance on the mound allowing two earned runs on five hits and recording nine strike-outs. He helped his own cause at the plate scoring one run and collecting 2 RBIs. Kade Allen, Cameron Mercer, Ty Lowhorn, Isaac Belton, and Landon Colter scored the other Tiger runs.

Macon traveled to Jackson County to take on the Blue Devils on Apr 2nd. Trent Cook got the complete game shut-out throwing five innings scattering four hits and with five strike-outs. The Macon bats were hot as they got the 10-0 win in five innings. Mercer and Isaac Meador collected multiple RBIs while Meador and Allen collected multiple hits in the game.

The Tigers then hosted Gordonsville on Apr 4th. The Tigers got some rough calls as two plays made a significant difference in the game. In the bottom of the 4th with two outs, a Tiger runner was called out for interference on second base, by the home-plate umpire, as a runner was scoring. Later in the top of the 7th inning, again with two outs, the batter struck-out on a called third strike. However a runner was trying to steal home and the umpire scored the run on the third out play. Macon wound up losing 3-1 in a rough night for the guys in blue.

Belton was on the mound for the Tigers throwing seven innings allowing only one earned run on four hits and with four strike-outs. Lowhorn scored the only Tiger run while Mercer, Allen, and Meador collected hits for Macon. The Tigers also recorded five errors in this game.
