Bulldogs grab first win of season

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs were able to get their first win of the season.

 

In what turned out to be a five inning shut-out the Bulldogs won 10-0 over Pickett County on Apr 23rd. The Bulldogs lost 1-12 to Pickett in the first conference game of the season in March.

Matthew Murphy threw a complete game with 5 innings pitched, allowed only three hits, and no earned runs. Devin Justice led the way hitting 3 for 4 with two RBIs while Kendall Thompson went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Murphy, Justice, Galdon Thompson, Kenyan Goolsby, Keaton Comer, and Michael Matthews all scored runs.

The Bulldogs played a conference game against Monterey on Monday Apr 22nd. They lost 0-20 in five innings. Kendall Thomspon was the pitcher of record for the Bulldogs.

In other action the Bulldogs had a double-header district contest against York Institute. York won the opener 17-7 in 5 innings. Cody Mea was the losing pitcher for RBS and Kenyan Goolsby replaced him for 1 1/3 innings of relief. Murphy and Kendall Thompson had multiple hits in the first game.

In the second game of the double-header the Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead thru three innings. However the Dragons would score two in the 4th and two in the 5th to go on to a 4-2 win. Murphy was on the mound and threw 6 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits.

This week the Bulldogs are scheduled to play at Van Buren County on Apr 29th and at Westmoreland on Apr 30th.
