MCHS Softball District 8AA Regular Season Champions

The Macon County High School Softball did concluded something this week that they have never done in the program’s history. They won the District 8-AA regular season championship.

The week started hosting a home game against Gordonsville on Apr 29th. Allyson Shoulders started the game and threw two innings allowing four hits and one earned run. Raini Geromeeta and Allie Warner threw one inning of relief each in what turned out to be a four inning game. Madilyn Goodall was 2 for 4 with four RBIs and Morgan Carter was 1 for 4 with three RBIs. Abby Shoulders, Rachel Ritchie, Gerometta, and Makenzie Stafford all had two RBIs each. Macon won by a final score of 16-1.

This set up the final home game of the regular season for all the marbles against Watertown. Win and finish the regular season as champions and get a #1 seed headed into district play, lose and drop to #3.

The Tigerettes seemed tight but jumped out to a 4-0 lead, only to see Watertown roar back to lead 8-4 after two and a half innings. The Tigerettes scored multiple runs in the last four frames and won by a final score of 16-10. This was an important and historic win.

In what turned out to be a track meet, Morgan Carter put on a hitting clinic, going 3 for 4 with three homeruns(19 on the season) and collecting four RBIs. Abby Shoulders, Olivia Belton, Ritchie, and Allyson Shoulders was 3 for 4 as well. In a combination in the circle, Allyson Shoulders threw five and two thirds innings, allowing three hits, seven walks, and two earned runs for the win. Gerometta came in during the top of the 2nd inning and threw one and a third innings of relief and allowed five hits and four earned runs.

The 8AA softball tournament will be played at Watertown after the first round of play. As the #1 seed, Macon would host #8 York at home on May 3rd. Macon would win another five inning game 17-3 with Gerometta going the distance throwing all five innings and allowing three hits and three earned runs. The entire starting lineup (in order) of Abby Shoulders, Carter, Tristia Jenkins, Allyson Shoulders, Goodall, Belton, Ritchie, Gerometta, and Stafford all had at least one hit in the game.

In the double elimination tournament Macon will now face #4 Upperman in the winners bracket on May 6th at 5 pm.
