Man Killed in Farming Accident

By Debbie Gregory

Sixty-three-year-old Larry Wayne Shockley, of Lafayette, was killed in a farming accident last Friday.

According to the incident report filed by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, on May 17, Deputy Joshua Meador responded to a farming accident on Pitcock Road, where a man was reported to be pinned underneath a tractor. When Macon County EMS arrived on the scene, Mr. Shockley didn’t have a pulse and a short time later Macon County Coroner Mike Ethridge pronounced him deceased.

The report states that after further investigation, Deputy Meador determined that Mr. Shockley and his wife were on the tractor, and Mr. Shockley was attempting to pull a log with it. The front of the tractor came off the ground causing it to flip backwards onto Mr. Shockley.

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Wayne Shockley will be conducted on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel, in Gamaliel, Ky. with burial to follow in the Rocky Hill Cemetery. Jeremy Yokley will officiate.
