Drug Arrest at Storage Facility

 A mother was arrested, and her child was placed in DSC custody, on May 16, after meth was discovered by law enforcement inside the mother’s storage unit. 

 

According to the report filed by Officer Austin Cliburn of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, he and Sergeant Bobby Jocoby arrived at the Coleytown Storage facility on Browns Road around 11 p.m. following reports of a verbal altercation between a girlfriend and boyfriend. 

Both individuals were interviewed and it was determined the woman, identified as 44-year-old Shawna Lynn Milam, had been using narcotics in the presence of a child earlier that day and also in the past. 

The child was asleep in Milam’s vehicle when authorities arrived, and it was discovered the mother and child were homeless and living in the vehicle. 

Through further investigation, officers recovered a small bag of a crystalized substance believed to be meth, along with a pipe used for smoking meth, inside a storage unit at the facility that was being rented by Miss Milam.

At that time, she was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, child abuse/aggravated neglect and possession of a schedule II drug. 

The Department of Childrens Services was notified, and the child was removed from the mother’s custody and placed with DCS. 

Milam’s bond was revoked due to an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant for her arrest on file at the Macon County Justice Center. 

She is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on June 26.
