By Jessie Williams

The victim of a residential burglary found the offender laying in a bed inside their home last week.

According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Sergeant Robert Jacoby, 40-year-old Travis Shipley was discovered in the bed of a home on Tanyard Road, after allegedly breaking in, stealing items and causing damage to the property.

The report states Mr. Shipley cut a window screen, then raised the unlocked window to gain entry.

When the victim returned home, Shipley was found laying in bed in a back bedroom and was asked to leave.

Shipley is said to have then struck the wall, resulting in a large hole, then grabbed a bunch of bags before exiting the residence.

The victim stated there were various items taken from the home.

Mr. Shipley was arrested by police and charged with criminal trespassing, aggravated burglary, vandalism and theft of property.

His bond was set at $13,500, and he is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on June 26, 2019.
