A Macon County man was arrested last week after a search of his vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 10.6 grams of meth, $2,600 in cash and two loaded firearms.
According to Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, 31-year-old Charles Joseph Skirvin arrived at the sheriff’s office on Monday, August 5, for an appointment with his probation officer and allegedly brought in fake urine to use during his drug screen.
Deputy Dylan Gann took Skirvin into custody and accompanied him to his vehicle outside after he requested to get a phone number out of his car before going to jail.
The officer noticed two firearms inside the vehicle and, with assistance from Deputy Josh Meador, a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted.
Seized during the search was approximately 10.6 grams of meth, two loaded handguns, digital scales and around $2,600 in cash.
The 2004 Nissan Altima was also seized.
Mr. Skirvin was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, falsification of drug test results, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, driving while in possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation (2 counts).
His bond was set at $21,500, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on August 28, 2019.
