Three Counts of Child Abuse: Children Test Positive for Methamphetamine

By Jessie Williams

A Red Boiling Springs couple is behind bars after three young children that resided with them all tested positive for high levels of methamphetamine.

According to former Red Boiling Springs Chief of Police Kevin Woodard, the Department of Children’s Services received information that Brian and June Oliver were using drugs in the presence of their children.

A home visit provided enough evidence for the children to be removed from the home, and hair follicle tests were conducted on the 6, 7 and 8-year-old children.

Each child tested positive for high levels of methamphetamine, and the District Attorney’s office contacted Chief Woodard, who presented all of the information to the Macon County Grand Jury earlier this month. Sealed indictments were issued for their arrests.

Brian Wilson Oliver, age 39, was arrested on August 15, and June E. Oliver, age 43, was arrested on August 24.

Both individuals were charged with three counts of child abuse/neglect.

Their bonds were set at $60,000, and they are scheduled to appear in criminal court on October 18, 2019.
