Masters & Morgan Charged in Macon County

Thirty-five-year-old Cecil Masters and his girlfriend, Mindy Morgan, were detained by local authorities last Thursday after a Macon County Grand Jury issued sealed indictments for their arrests. 

 

Chronicle readers may recall that Masters was initially taken into federal custody after pipe bombs, drugs, cash, guns and other paraphernalia were found at his Rocky Mound Rd. residence on July 17, 2019. 

To recap the incident, Miss Morgan reported that Masters had “blown his hand off” around 11:30 p.m. and asked for Macon County EMS to meet them as she drove to get him medical attention.

Masters was transported to Skyline, and deputies accompanied Morgan to the scene, where they discovered a second explosive device and notified the THP Bomb Squad and ATF. 

The following day, the device was safely detonated and a search warrant was executed. 

Found during the search was over $6,000 in cash, several grams of meth, digital scales, meth pipes, fuses, pipes and black powder, 18 firearms, two stolen firearms, security cameras and recording devices. 

According to Macon County Sheriff’s Department Detective Kevin Templeton, the case was presented to the Macon County Grand Jury, and sealed indictments were issued for Masters and Morgan. 

Masters still faces federal charges and was on house arrest at the time Macon County detectives took him into custody. 

Both Masters and Morgan are being held at the Macon County Jail on $50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in criminal court on September 3, 2019. 

They are both charged with manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, possession of explosive components, theft of property (2 counts), possession of drug paraphernalia and weapon: prohibited. 

According to authorities, additional charges are possible as footage from the indoor security cameras is reviewed.
