RBS Teen Injured in Sunday Wreck

A Red Boiling Springs teenager sustained serious injuries in a one-vehicle wreck on Sunday morning, September 29, on Hwy. 52 By Pass East in Lafayette.

According to a report filed by the Lafayette Police Department, a Red Boiling Springs teen was driving a black Toyota Camry early Sunday morning on Hwy. 52 By Pass East, when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel, ran off the road in front of Lafayette Mini Storage, struck a culvert and went airborne. The vehicle then traveled approximately 107 feet in the air making contact with the ground, then went into a barrel roll traveling several more feet before coming to rest in the field. The report states that the juvenile had reportedly just gotten off work.

The teenager was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. When contacted by telephone on Monday afternoon, a Vanderbilt spokesperson stated that the juvenile was listed in stable condition.

Those responding to the scene were the Lafayette Police Department, the Lafayette Fire Department, Rescue Squad, and Macon County EMS.
