Gordonsville eases past RBS

The Gordonsville Tigers visited the Dog Pound last Friday night and eased their way to a 36-12 victory.

The Tigers are having a rebuilding season coming into this game with only one win in six games while the Bulldogs were winless in 5 games.

The Tigers jumped out to a 29-0 halftime lead and coasted the second half to take home a region win. Gordonsville scored a touchdown on their first play of the game to grab a 7-0 lead while the 29-0 halftime lead was accomplished using a mixture of starters and reserves.

The Bulldogs enjoyed success with their ground attack and in the first quarter they had a 1st and goal from the 1 foot line but came away with no points. That was a large pill to swallow and the Bulldogs had a big letdown allowing the Tigers to score 22 additional first half points to put the Bulldogs in a very large hole. Penalties hurt both teams in the first half including two personal foul calls against both teams.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Bulldog Quarterback Aubrey Link found Devin Justice all alone in the end zone for a 24 yard pass but the extra point was no good. The Bulldogs would score their second TD with 3 minutes left in the game on a 12 yard pass from Link to Dylen Templeton for the final score of 36-12.

Stats from the game: the Bulldogs passing attack showed improvement with 140 yards with Link connecting on 12 attempts. Walker Reynolds and Devin Justice had 8 catches between the two.The Bulldogs rushing attack showed great improvement gaining 189 yards with Dylan Temptlon and Devin Justice gaining 156 of those yards.

The Bulldogs will stay home this Friday night to welcome Clinton County KY to the Dog Pound for a 7 p.m. kick off.
