Tigerettes lose firs district match

The MCHS Tigerette Soccer team dropped their first 9-AA contest this week.

The two teams atop the table in girl’s soccer in 9-AA met on Sep 30th at White House Heritage. The Tigerettes lost this contest to the Lady Patriots by a score of 4-2. Striker Keeley Carter and midfielder Jamie Ashburn had the scores for Macon. With this loss it puts the Tigerettes squarely in second place in the district.

On Oct 3rd the Tigerettes hosted DeKalb County from District 3-AA. DeKalb scored early but Keeley Carter scored on a corner kick to tie the game 1-1 at the break. In the second half the Tigerettes cranked up the pressure.

This game was also Senior Night for the Class of 2020. Jamie Ashburn, Keeley Carter, Morgan Carter, Scooby Belton, Colleen McClard, Sadie Morgan, Keleigh Wilkerson, and Bryli Nichols were recognized, along with their parents, for all their dedication and hard work.

Macon gave up another early goal to go down 1-2 but Carter scored two goals in quick succession just outside the left side of the 18 yard box to make it 3-2. With less than 10 minutes to go in the match Carter scored on another Jamie Ashburn corner-kick to make the final score 4-2.

The Tigerettes are scheduled to host their final game of the season against district foe Portland on Tue Oct 8th. With the win they would secure second place in the district and match the largest win total in a single season in program history.
