Livingston completes perfect season with win over Tigers

The Livingston Academy Wildcats complete a perfect regular season at 10-0 with a 42-7 win over the Macon County High Tigers.

 

The Wildcats scored on their first four possessions with touchdown passes of 62, 11, 23, and12 yards to grab a 28-0 lead midway thru the second period. Macon would complete a 65 yard pass from Jon Mark Gammons to Landon Whittemore to get a first and goal. Gammons would sneak it in for the touchdown and Ryan Underwood would make the point after to make if 28-7 with 3:23 left in the half.

Livingston would come right back and score again with another 23 yard touchdown pass to make it 35-7 at the break.

Mid way thru the third period Livingston would score another touchdown pass to make it 42-7 and start the running clock. Time would expire on the next change of possessions to make the final 42-7.

Gammons would be 5 of 17 for 104 yards and two interceptions. Rushing were: Isaac Belton 11 carries for 49 yards, Ethan Jenkins three carries for six yards, and Hunter Herron two carries for nine yards. Receiving Whittemore had 95 yards on four catches and Belton had nine yards on one catch.

Robinson continued to lead the defense with his 11 tackles for the game. He was followed by Belton with nine and Cameron Houston with five on the night.

Livingston is probably the most complete team the Tigers faced all season. They had 434 yards total offense with 327 of that coming thru the air. They also limited the Tigers to just seven first downs in the game and 169 total yards. They are a very good football team.

The Tigers will be on the road for the first round of the TSSAA playoffs. They will travel to Nolensville to face the Region 4-4A runner-ups. The Knights have a record of 8-2 with their only region loss to Marshall County last week by a 30-14 score. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
