Nolensville ends Tigers season in TSSAA playoffs

The Macon County Tiger football season ended with a first round loss in the TSSAA playoffs to the Nolensville Knights.

The final score was 47-7.
 
Following a missed field goal on the opening drive for Nolensville, the Tigers mounted a 14 play 73 yard drive of their own. However Macon would miss their own 25 yard field goal attempt. Nolensville would score as the first quarter ended to take a 7-0 lead.
 
The Knights would blow the game open in the second period. They scored on two pick-six interceptions and two other long pass plays. The score at the half was 34-0.
 
Macon was able to get on the board midway thru the third quarter by simply running the ball down Nolensville’s throat. Isaac Belton scored on a 14 yard run and Ryan Underwood made the extra point to make it 34-7.
 
The Knights would score twice more creating a running clock for the last half of the third and all of the fourth quarter. Final score Nolensville 47 Macon Co 7.
 
Isaac Belton had 163 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown. Dylan Chupp had 60 yards on 11 carries followed by Hunter Herron with 13 yards on eight carries, and Ethan Jenkins 11 yards on three carries. Jon Mark Gammons was two for nine for 75 yards and four interceptions in addition to 17 yards rushing. Landon Whittemore had one catch for 24 yards and Cameron Mercer had one catch for 51 yards.
 
Austin Robinson and Belton led the Tiger defenders with six tackles each. Chupp, Rodney Tuck, and Logan Whittemore followed with two tackles each.
 
Nolensville will get to travel to Livingston to take on the Wildcats in the second round of the football playoffs.
 
The loss ends the Tiger season with a record of 5-6 on the year and marks the first time in program history that the team has been to the playoffs four years in a row.
