Tigers score first win of season

The Westmoreland Eagles came to Nera White Gymnasium on Nov 25th and the Tigers were able to grab their first win of the season.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Tigerettes as well.

In the boy’s win the Tigers grabbed an early lead and were able to hold it the entire game. They led 21-16 at the break. Macon was able to hold that lead and grab a 49-44 win. The Tigers were able to outshoot the Eagles and made more three point shots as well.

Scoring was: Isaac Meador 13, Braydee Brooks 12, Lake Reid 11, Dawson Shrum 6, Noah Hale 4, and Cody Cothron 3. Landon Colter played but did not score.

In the girls game the Lady Eagles shot the lights out of the ball and played some really great basketball. At one point Westmoreland was shooting over 60% from behind the arc and finished the game shooting 54% overall from the floor. Macon was behind most of the first half but managed to have a 19-18 lead at the break. Then the Tigerettes went stone cold.

Poor shot selection and no sense of where to manufacture points contributed to the Tigerette only scoring seven points in the third quarter. The Tigerettes were 2 of 19 behind the arc, and did not make one three pointer until 3:23 left in the third period. The Lady Eagles were able to fend off a late run and capture a 46-43 win. The Lady Eagles have now beaten Smith County, Upperman, and Macon County, all members of District 8-AA.

Scoring was: Marah King 11, Jalynn Gregory 11, Keeley Carter 10, Saranda Woodson 8, and Jamie Ashburn 3. Abby Shoulders and McKaylee Mix played but did not score.
