A Wonderful Night at the Donoho Hotel
By Debbie Gregory
With the Christmas season here once again, the beautiful Donoho Hotel in historic Red Boiling Springs, opened it’s doors Saturday night for a wonderful holiday celebration.
Take the handsome Dukes of Hazzard legend/singer John Schneider, former popular TV star Ed Asner, amazing young fiddler Hillary King, extraordinary harmonica player Tim Gonzalez, the wonderful Shattered Silence Band, and of course Santa Claus himself – and you have the recipe for a night that 1,800 people won’t soon forget.
The sound of music could be heard from the front porch of the Donoho Hotel Saturday night, with Shattered Silence Band performing periodically for the crowd. Hillary King, Tim Gonzalez, and John Schneider also performed with the band throughout the night.
John Schneider, aka “Bo Duke,” signed autographs and gave away copies of his movie, ‘Christmas Cars’ and copies of his book, ‘My Life, My Way,’ also on the front porch of the hotel.
Ed Asner, of the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Lou Grant” hosted a meet and greet in the hotel lobby, where he signed autographs and gave away copies of the Christmas movie “Elf,” which he starred in.
Even though Santa Claus is busy preparing for the most wonderful day of the year, he took time off from his hectic schedule at the North Pole to attend the holiday celebration at the hotel and to spread Christmas magic.
The celebration of this glorious holiday was spectacular and all the entertainers gladly posed for pictures with the fans.
“To our many good friends and neighbors, and valued customers, this is the season when we want to pause and say “thanks” for your kind and generous patronage,” said Mr. John Cook, of the Donoho Hotel. “May we extend to you our warmest greetings and good wishes for a Merry Christmas to you and yours.”
