By Jessie Williams

The historic Thomas House Hotel in Red Boiling Springs will be featured in the Travel Channel’s ‘Portals to Hell’ television series on Thursday, May 7, at 9 pm CST.

The paranormal investigative show features host Jack Osbourne and ghost hunter Katrina Weidman, and is in its second season of seeking out the world’s most haunted locations.

According to Thomas House Hotel owner Cherry Cole, a crew of 13 took over the hotel with the latest in electronic tools for seven days, in October 2019, to investigate and film.

“The crew was delightful and this was the most organized production we’ve been a part of,” she said.

Cole, her family and former guests were interviewed on camera to share their most haunting encounters at the hotel.

For those unfamiliar with the history of the Thomas House Hotel, formerly the Cloyd Hotel, it was built in 1890, burned down, and was completely rebuilt in the 1920’s. In its prime, the hotel boomed with visitors seeking the healing powers of sulphur springs.

The hotel has become a famous spot for ghost hunters and has been featured on SyFy’s Ghost Hunters, Southern Haunts, A&E’s Paranormal State as well as numerous books and publications.

There are many peculiar individuals and strange folklore associated with the hotel that will be investigated on the ‘Portals to Hell’ episode.

The show also explores the church across he street, which is owned by the Cole family.

“Honestly, I understand that some people don’t believe in this kind of stuff,” Cole said. “I used to be one of those people. But after seeing some of the things I’ve seen, I’m now a believer.”

The Cole family hopes that everyone will tune in next Thursday to see the outcome of the paranormal team’s investigation and learn about some of the hotel’s history.

“We’re excited for everyone to see what was captured during their investigation and all of the evidence they presented,” she said. “We think a lot of folks will be surprised!”

The title of the episode, if your’e setting your DVR, is Thomas House Hotel.
