By Jessie Williams

Local law enforcement seized approximately 5.9 pounds of marijuana last week at a residence on Shrum Hollow Rd.

According to Macon County Sheriff’s Department Detective Shane Gregory, officers arrived at 1379 Shrum Hollow Rd. on September 30, 2020 to locate a subject that was wanted on a warrant.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a black, plastic container lid in the driveway that had a green, leafy substance laying on it, drying in the sun.

Two feed sacks with the same green, leafy plant laying on them were also found between the barn and the driveway.

The same substance was also found hanging to dry in the barn.

The subject that officers originally arrived to arrest, was taken into custody.

While at the residence, 27-year-old James T. Goodman pulled up into the driveway. Mr. Goodman stated that the marijuana was his.

Combined, the marijuana found on the property weighed approximately 5.9 pounds.

Goodman was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana for resale. His bond was set at $52,000.
