Man With Hammer Knocks on Door at 3 a.m.
By Jessie Williams
A local woman called law enforcement after a male neighbor knocked on her door at 3 a.m. with a hammer in his hand.
According to a report by the responding deputy, he was dispatched to a residence on Barefoot Rd. last Saturday, November 7.
Upon the officer’s arrival, the male subject was still on the woman’s porch and was identified as 41-year-old Anthony Prince.
Because he was armed with a hammer, the officer ordered Prince to the ground and he complied and was detained.
During questioning, Prince allegedly stated he heard voices in his yard, got scared, grabbed a hammer and went to his neighbor’s house.
Prince did appear to be under the influence and, according to the report, admitted to drinking throughout the day.
He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Macon County Jail.
During the drive, however, Prince is said to have been moving from side to side in an odd manner. And when he was taken out of the vehicle, his pants fell down and a plastic grocery bag fell to the ground.
Inside the bag were several Ziploc bags containing a total of approximately 88.3 grams of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
Prince was charged with public intoxication, possession of a schedule VI drug and possession of narcotics for the purpose of resale.
His bond was set at $3,500, and he is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on December 2, 2020.
