Probation Search: Child Abuse & Drug Charges

A Lafayette couple was arrested last week on drug on child abuse and drug charges following a probation search of their home.

 

According to the report filed by arresting officer Jacob McClard of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, he and other detectives arrived at an apartment, located at 469 Akersville Rd., on February 12, 2021, for a home visit on Cecil and Brandy Edmonds. 

Employees from the Department of Childrens Services and the Macon County Probation Office were also on site during the visit. 

Both Cecil and Brandy were at home when officers arrived, and Mr. Edmonds let them inside to search the residence.

During the search officers found a locked safe that contained approximately .75 ounces of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Also found inside the home was a firearm, ammo, a white, powdery substance believed to be Hydrocodone and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia including pipes, rolling papers and grinders.

Many of the items were reported to be in reach of the minor child residing in the home. 

When asked if she had anything on her person, Mrs. Edmonds admitted to hiding a pipe down her pants.

Brandy is charged with possession of a Schedule VI drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, possession of a schedule II drug and child abuse. Her bond is set at $70,000. 

Cecil is charged with violation of probation, child abuse, unlawful possession of a weapon, manufacture of narcotics (2 counts) and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000. 

Both are scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 24, 2021.
