Around 1,500 Photos, Videos of Children Found

By Jessie Williams

A 32-year-old Lafayette man is behind bars after local law enforcement discovered approximately 1,500 provocative images and videos of children on his personal computer and cell phone.

According to Macon County Detective Shane Gregory, state probation officers and deputies with the Macon County Sheriffs Department, arrived at 300 Copperhead Lane on July 15, 2021 for a home visit on registered sex offender, Ryan Joseph Stueck.

Upon entering the home, state probation officers observed a computer and cell phone that were internet capable. These items were prohibited to be in Stueck’s possession due to sex offender registry rules.

Detective Gregory was contacted, and he was able to obtain a search warrant for Stueck’s computer, cell phone and flash drives.

Their search produced approximately 1,500 uploaded images and videos of children ages 4 to 16 years old in a “provocative manner.”

When confronted by law enforcement, Stueck admitted to searching sites and downloading the photos and videos.

He also stated that he was in a “downward spiral.”

Mr. Stueck was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and is being held without bond.

He is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on August 18, 2021.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Stueck was on parole for a 2008 child molestation case that took place in Illinois.
