By Jessie Williams

A 55-year-old Macon County man is behind bars on a $1,000,000 bond for the rape and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl that is reported to have been going on since she was just 6 years old.

According to the Affidavit of Complaint written by Macon County Detective Shane Gregory, the victim and her mother arrived at Macon Community Hospital on October 5, 2021, reporting that the 11-year-old had been sexually assaulted.

After being examined and interviewed by forensic investigators, it was determined the girl had been sexually assaulted by a male subject named Darrell Wayne Rippy.

The most recent incident had taken place in the girl’s bedroom of her home in Lafayette, but it was determined the sexual assaults had been taking place since 2016 and in other states as well.

The affidavit states that Rippy, who is employed by Apple Jack Trucking, Inc., took the girl on one of his trip’s in a semi-truck, and the acts took place in the sleeper of the truck and in the victim’s bedroom since she was 6 years old.

The FBI was contacted regarding the incidents outside of Macon County, and they are currently investigating the case.

Rippy was arrested in Kentucky on October 8, 2021 and charged with rape of a child under the age of 13 and sexual battery.

“If anyone has any information about a child that has been mistreated, sexually or any other way, please report it to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office,” said Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons.
