RBS Man Killed in Clay Co. Crash

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was the investigating agency of a two-vehicle crash in neighboring Clay County on Thursday, October 21, that killed a Red Boiling Springs man.

According to the preliminary crash report, 35-year-old Terry L. Dyer II, of Red Boiling Springs, was driving west on Bakerton Road in a 2002 Nissan Sentra. Michael A. Brown, 62, of Moss, Tennessee, was driving east on Bakerton Road in a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer log truck.

The report states that the Nissan Sentra was negotiating a curve at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. Terry Dyer lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center of the roadway and entered the eastbound lane, striking the log truck head-on. Both vehicles came to rest on the north side of the roadway.

The report also states that Mr. Dyer, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clay County Medical Examiner. Mr. Brown wasn’t injured.

Funeral services for Terry Lee Dyer II were conducted on Sunday afternoon, October 24, from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, with Jerry Cherry officiating. Interment was in the Whitley Cemetery.
