Father Charged with Assault of 2-Week-Old Son

A Lafayette man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted his two week old son.

According to a report filed by Detective Jeff Hix, with the Lafayette Police Department, on November 6, Benjamin L. Morgan, of Lafayette, physically assaulted his two week old son by getting angry due to the child crying and squeezing the child so hard that he broke his right collar bone and several ribs.

Benjamin Morgan was arrested on December 3, and has been charged with Haley’s Law – aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect or endangerment. Bond was set at $50,000. A General Sessions Court date has been set for December 8.

This incident occurred in the City of Lafayette.
