Snowstorm/Dropping Temperatures Hit Macon County

Forecasters had predicted a 100 percent chance of snow in Middle Tennessee last Thursday, January 6, and before the day was over an estimated 8 to 9 inches of snow fell across Macon County, with the temperature dropping into the single digits by early Friday morning. The main roadways, as well as the secondary roads were treacherous and numerous non-injury accidents across the city and county kept the Lafayette Police Department, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and tow truck drivers busy throughout the day and night. This tractor-trailer slid into a ditch on Tuck Road and it took several hours to pull it out.  (Photo submitted)
