White to Compete in “Super Bowl of Truck Pulls”

By Jessie Williams

Lafayette native Mikey White has sat in the stands at the National Farm Machinery Show Championship Truck Pull every year for the last 15 years as a spectator – cheering on other drivers in what he calls the “Super Bowl of Truck Pulls.”

But this year, Mikey’s view will be a bit different as he competes against 11 others in his class for the chance to bring home a share of more than $200,000 in prize money.

This invitation-only, annual event is sponsored by Syngenta and takes place during the evenings of the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky, February 16-19, 2022.

Pulling trucks and tractors battle it out in this nationally recognized event, starring the nation’s best drivers and their machines — Pro Stocks, Super Stocks, Modified, and Alcohol Tractors as well as Two-Wheel and Four-Wheel Drive Trucks.

Mikey will be competing in the Super Modified 2WD Trucks Class on Thursday, February 17. The top 4 winners will go on to compete against the top 4 winners from the Friday night Super Modified 2WD Trucks Class pull in the championship round to be held on Saturday, February 19.

Mikey has been pulling his current truck, “Addiction,” since 2015. The vehicle has a Chevrolet Colorado body and a hemi engine with a supercharger.

Competing in 22 competitions over the last year. Mikey and Addiction earned their way into the 2022 truck pull ‘Super Bowl’ by ranking high in every competition they entered.

The 43-year-old said he’s been a truck pull enthusiast since the age of 5, and this is all a dream come true.

“It’s an honor,” he remarked. “As a kid, I always dreamed of it, and I’ve been in the audience every year for the last 15 years. It just seems unreal that I get to compete in it now.”

Mikey has been a member of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League for the last seven years and travels all over the country to states including Pennsylvania, Missouri, North Carolina and Illinois, to compete in truck pulls.

The Championship Truck Pull is open to the public, and tickets are now on sale on Ticketmaster and at the Freedom Hall Box Office located at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Tickets price vary based on day, time, and location of seat.

This event is usually nationally televised as well, so check your local TV listings, and help us wish Mikey the best of luck in the Championship Truck Pull!
