A Lafayette man, who was arrested by law enforcement last week on a warrant, was found to be in possession of a heroine/Oxycodone mixture.

According to the affidavit of complaint, Deputy Logan Swindle detained 31-year-old James Harold Mowell on March 25, 2022 for a violation of probation warrant.

During the booking process, while searching the arrestee, Officer Swindle and a corrections officer did find contraband in Swindle’s pants.

The contraband, a white, powdery substance, was seized by authorities.

After interviewing Mowell, the substance is believed to be a combination of heroine and the narcotic Oxycodone. The substance weighed approximately .5 grams, and will be sent to the lab for positive identification.

Mowell was charged with violation of probation, possession of schedule I drugs, possession of schedule II drugs and introduction of drugs into a county institution.

His Bond was set at $18,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on April 27, 2022.
