Man Charged With Incest & Rape of Child

A 31-year-old Westmoreland man was arrested Friday, April 22, 2022, for 2 counts of rape of a child under the age of 13, two counts of incest and 2 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. 

According to local law enforcement, detectives from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department were contacted by Sumner County investigators on April 21, 2022, regarding a case involving a man from Macon County, who sustained a gunshot wound in their jurisdiction.

The man was identified as Christopher Baxley of Westmoreland. 

It was determined through further investigation Baxley’s injuries were a result of being accused of sexual misconduct with a child.

Evidence collected at the scene by officers included hundreds of videos and photographs of child pornography downloaded to a cell phone belonging to Baxley.

Extensive interviews were also conducted, and evidence suggested that Baxley had sexually abused a child under the age of two, who he was related to.

He was arrested and charged with sexual: incest (2 counts), rape of a child less than 13 (two counts), and sexual exploitation of a minor (2 counts).

Mr. Baxley is being held on a $125,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on May 11, 2022.

According to Macon County Detective Shane Gregory, additional charges against Baxley are pending, and the case remains under investigation.
