Man Attempting to Steal From Store Found With Meth

A 32-year-old Lafayette man was arrested on drug charges after attempting to steal items from Walmart last week. 

According to an affadavit of complaint filed by Lafayette Police Department Officer Justin Bergforff, he arrived at the Lafayette Walmart Supercenter on January 5, 2023 after being dispatched for a separate incident involving trespassing.

When he arrived, however, Walmart’s Asset Protection employees had another suspect in custody, who was seen concealing items that were unpaid for, and walking out into the parking lot. 

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Bradley Rogers.

Upon looking for the items that Mr. Rogers stole, Officer Bergdorff discovered a clear baggie containing a crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine. 

A second baggie, containing a grayish substance believed to be heroin, was also found in Mr. Rogers’ possession.

Rogers was arrested and charged with shoplifting under $100, possession of a schedule II drug and manufacture, delivery or possession of methamphetamine.

His bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 1, 2023.
