Hotel Room Search Warrant; Two Arrested

Two individuals were arrested after local enforcement served a search warrant on a room at the Hearthstone Inn last week.
According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Detective Josh Meador of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, the search warrant was served on the room on January 20, 2023.
Located inside were 25-year-old Destiny Cline and 38-year-old Kevin Newman.
A search of the room resulted in the discovery of six, clear baggies containing a purple substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, two sets of digital scales, a clear pipe with a white residue inside and a baggie coating a white, crystal substance believed to methamphetamine.
Cline and Newman were both placed into custody and transported to the Macon County Jail.
Three days later, on January 23, an inmate at the jail overdosed and had to receive CPR and Narcan. After being transported to the hospital by Macon County EMS, the inmate admitted he received the drugs from Mr. Newman.
Mr. Newman was brought in and an x-ray showed contraband between his legs. Mr. Newman also had drugs by his bunk that tested positive for Fentanyl.
Ms. Cline was charged with manufacture of narcotics, manufacture, delivery or possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear, criminal trespassing and vandalism. Her bond was set at $36,000.
Mr. Newman was charged with possession of a schedule II drug, violation of probation, failure to appear, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, delivery or possession of methamphetamine and introduction of drugs into a county institution. His bond was set at $40,000.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear in general sessions court on February 8, 2023.
