Kentucky Teen Killed in Clay County Wreck

The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated a one vehicle wreck in Clay County, on Clay County Highway near Hilltop Road, that killed one Kentucky teen and injured two other Kentucky teenagers on Saturday night, February 11.

The THP Preliminary Crash Report states that 18-year-old Jackson Pemberton, of Edmonton, Ky., was driving a 2019 Kia Stinger east on Clay County Hwy., when the vehicle crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic, traveled off the left side of the road, and collided with a tree. The vehicle came to a final rest off the left side of the roadway, facing south.

The report also states that Pemberton and his two juvenile passengers, a 14-year-old and 17-year-old, both of Tompkinsville, Ky., were all transported for medical treatment. The 14-year-old died from injuries sustained in the wreck. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The other two teens were both wearing a seat belt.
