Fire Destroys Garage, Firefighters Save House

On Wednesday afternoon, March 1, the Lafayette Fire Department responded to a structure fire north of town, that destroyed a 40×40 detached garage. Firefighters were able to save the nearby house.

The fire department received the call shortly before 3:00 p.m. and upon arrival the garage was fully involved. There was 12 firefighters at the scene, with seven on stand by at the fire hall. The department utilized Engine #3, two tankers, a support truck, and the ultra high pressure truck.

Assistant Chief Don Stevens was in charge of the scene.

Chief Troy Brawner said he would like to commend the firefighters for their hard work in getting the fire under control, and saving the house.
