Sue Hix

Sue Deckard Hix, age 78 of Glasgow, KY and formerly of the Winklers Community in Macon County, TN passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2023 at Knollwood Maner in Lafayette, TN. Funeral Services for Sue Deckard Hix were conducted Wednesday morning, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Jeremy Yokley and Geoff Pare offi ciating. Interment followed in the Enon Cemetery.

All of Mrs. Sue’s former students at RBS Elementary served as honorary pallbearers. Whitt Cooper, Wyatt Cooper, Dwayne Hix, Jamie Perrigo, Ray Hix, Jr., Dale Hix, Donnie Peden, George Wilson, Gritt Hix & Jackson Hix served as active pallbearers. Sue Deckard Hix was born March 21, 1945 in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, the daughter born to the late Dumas & Lois Doss Deckard. On August 30, 1963, she married the love of her life, Roger Hix, who survives. They shared over 59 years together.

Sue had a zest for life, and she wrote in her journal often that, “I just love life”. Sue’s favorite thing was being “nana” to Seth. Her favorite activities were spending time with family and friends, traveling (she visited all 50 states and several other countries), reading, collecting antiques, being outside (especially reading on her front porch swing), listening to country and gospel music, and homemaking. “Ms. Sue” loved her work as a teacher’s aide, which she did for over 40 years. First at Enon then at Red Boiling Springs Elementary. She loved all children and wanted to spend as much time with them as she could. Sue accepted Jesus as her Savior in her youth and was a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors besides her husband, Roger include: daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Dale Long of Glasgow, KY; beloved grandson, Seth Long & his wife Sarah Anne of Salvisa, KY & a host of brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
