Tigerettes win two in softball
The Macon County High Tigerette softball team got two big wins this week on the softball field.
On Monday they traveled to Westmoreland to face the Lady Eagles in a non-conference contest. The Tigerettes led 3-0 early only to have the Eagles single in a run in the bottom of the 7th inning to get a 4-3 victory.
Ellie Coley stated the game in the circle for the Tigerettes and threw four innings allowing six hits and one earned run. Kayla Frye threw two and a third innings allowing four hits and three earned runs. Ryleigh Coley, Katie Shockley, Addison Woodard, and Kenley Roark all recorded multiple hits in the game.
On Wednesday Mar 29 Jackson County came to Lafayette. The Tigerettes exploded with seven runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on their way to an 18-0 victory.
Ellie Coley was the pitcher of record and threw two innings allowing one hit. Frye came on to throw two innings of relief. Woodard, Roark, Frye, Shockley, Cadence Davenport, Ellie Coley, Ryleigh Coley, Cadence Carter, Gianna Holden, and Journey Beasley all scored for the Tigerettes.
On Thursday Mar 30 the Tigerettes traveled to Crossville to face the Cumberland County Lady Jets for a District 7-3A game. Another offensive explosion occurred as Macon scored twelve in the 1st and eleven in the 2nd to win 24-0 in three innings.
Ellie Coley once again recorded the win pitching three innings allowing just one hit. Carter recorded six RBIs on three hits while Frye had four RBIs on three hits. Holden, Woodard, both Coley sisters, and Shockley all recorded RBIs as well.
This week The Tigerettes will face two more district foes as they will host DeKalb County on Tuesday Apr 4 before traveling to Livingston Academy on Thursday Apr 6. First pitch for both games is scheduled to start at 5 pm.
