Tigers notch three more wins
The Macon County Tigers got three more wins this week on the diamond. They had district games with DeKalb County and a non-conference game at Westmoreland.
On Monday Mar 27 the Tigers traveled to DeKalb County. Behind 0-2 a five run explosion in the top of the 6th and another run in the top of the 7th propelled Macon to a 6-2 victory.
Jacob Hunt got another complete game win, throwing all seven innings allowing four hits and no earned runs with 12 strike-outs. Matthew Wheeley had two hits and two RBIs and Braylon Flowers had two hits as well. Ely Malo, Braxton Lloyd, Kaden Woodard, Wheeley, and Landon Conner all scored runs.
On Tuesday Mar 28 DeKalb came to Lafayette for the return game. MCHS Coach Jason Hudson is enjoying a pitching luxury in getting yet another complete game victory from his staff. The game saw four ties or lead changes before Macon came from behind, yet again, in the bottom of the fourth to win 5-3.
Woodard and Flowers each recorded two hits. Lloyd, Jordan Rogers, Woodard, and Flowers all scored runs. Hunter Patterson went the distance on the mound in the seven inning contest allowing five hits and one earned run to get another complete game win.
Macon County traveled to face the Westmoreland Eagles on Thursday Mar 30th. Two in the top of the 1st, five in the 3rd, three in the 6th and two in the 7th catapulted the Tigers to a 12-4 victory.
Malo had a great day at the plate recording three hits and five RBIs in four appearances. Rogers, Woodard, Hayden Dean, Flowers, and Hayes Polston also had hits in the game. Braylon Flowers recorded the win on the mound throwing six innings allowing eight hits and four earned runs. Wheeley came on for one inning of relief recording two strike-outs in three batters faced.
The Tigers run their record to 7-2 and 5-1 in District 7-3A. This week they are scheduled to travel to Livingston on Monday Apr 3 and host Livingston on Tue Apr 4 for two more district contests. Then they will host Smith County at 1 pm and host Trousdale County at 5:30 pm on Good Friday Apr 7.
