James Deering

Elder James Bert Deering was born into this world on May 28, 1932, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late Adam Jefferson Deering and Rittie Lena Ford Deering. He departed this life for his Heavenly Home on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of ninety years, ten months, and nineteen days.

At the age of fourteen, James called on The Lord with a broken heart and The Lord answered his prayer. James received sweet salvation and peace in his heart. He was a member of Days Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church. James was called to preach God’s Word in 1977. He loved to attend church as long as his health permitted. James loved his church and church family very much. James enlisted in The United States Navy on July 12, 1951. He was honorably discharged on July 11, 1955, after four years of service to his country.

James married the love of his life, Miss Dorothy Green on June 22, 1953. They were blessed with four children and almost seventy years together. Along with his parents, James was also preceded in death by his Son, Chuck Deering; Brother, Gene Deering; and Infant Brother, Billy Deering.

James was employed at TRW, formerly Ross Gear, in Lebanon, as a machine operator. He retired after twenty-seven years of dedicated service. In his spare time, James enjoyed watching The Atlanta Braves play baseball. Above all else, he loved his Lord, and his family. James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His prayer was that all of his grandkids, great-grandkids, and anyone that was lost, would be saved. James will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but our loss is truly Heaven’s gain.
