Lady Bulldogs take two wins from Clarkrange

One night after winning a double header against Pickett County the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs welcomed the Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes to the Dog Pound to play a double header. Both teams need to win both games to claim third place in District 7-A for the regular season.

The Lady Bulldogs won game one by a final score of 3-2. This game was in doubt until the last batter as the Lady Buffaloes had a third out strike-out with runners in scoring position to end the game. Goolsby gave up two runs on four hits plus she walked five hitters. Goolsby was tough at the end.

The first game was very exciting as Lady Bulldog pitcher Nautica Goolsby had trouble with her control the entire game. The umpire did not call many pitches above the belt-line as strikes. The umpire was fair because he never gave any high pitches to the Clarkrange pitcher either. The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning thanks to some smart base running from Kelsey Chapion who singled in runners Madision Hooten and Kaitlyn Czetella. Champion forced a throw to third base instead to home plate and that allowed two runners to score.

The Lady Bulldogs got out of a bases loaded jam in the last inning thanks to Goolsby who turned a tough catch into a double play that ended the game. Kailey Claywell had two hits for the Lady Bulldogs and made two very good plays on defense.

The Lady Bulldogs won the second game by a final score of 5-1 behind some outstanding pitching from Sophomore Sarah Link who allowed only five hits and one run as the Lady Bulldogs clinched 3rd place for the regular season. In doing so, they avoided having to play in a play in game that could have ended their season. They also stayed away from powerhouse Gordonsville who play the winner of a play in game between Pickett County and Clarkrange.

We will keep all Lady Bulldog fans up to date concerning the district tournament.
