Tigers split conference games


The Macon County Tigers split their last two conference games of the season. They will finish the regular season in 4th place in District 7-3A.

On Monday Apr 17 the Tigers travelled to Stone Memorial in Crossville. A strong outing by pitcher Jacob Hunt was key as he threw 6 1/3 innings giving up only four hits and one earned run striking-out eight. Landon Connor got a save in the last 2/3 innings as well. Braylon Flowers went 3 for 4 with one run scored and an RBI. Braxton Lloyd, Kaden Woodard, Hayden Dean, and Matthew Wheeley collected the other hits in the 5-4 win for the Tigers.

The next day Apr 18 Stone came to Lafayette. The Tigers seemed to have this one in hand and led the whole way. In the 7th inning, behind 4-6, Stone was able to score four runs and come from behind to win 8-4.

Braylon Flowers started the game and threw five innings allowing one earned run on four hits with seven strike-outs. Conner came on in relief and threw 1 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on four hits while Matthew Wheeley also threw 1/3 of an inning. Hayes Polston and Wheeley had multiple hits and an RBI each. Ely Malo, Nate Green, Woodard, Wheeley, and Polston all scored runs.

This last week of the regular season the Tigers will host Cannon County on Apr 24th, travel to Watertown on Tuesday Apr 25th, host Westmoreland on Thursday Apr 27th, and travel to Red Boiling Springs on Friday Apr 28th for a 1:30 pm game
