Bulldogs lose to Tigers
The Macon County Tigers baseball team made the short trip to Red Boiling Springs to take on the Bulldogs last Friday afternoon. The Tigers wasted little time by plating seven first inning runs and they coasted to a 16-0 victory.
The Bulldogs defense made nine errors that only allowed seven of the 16 runs to be earned. The Bulldogs had two hits for the five inning game and Aiden Cherry had both of those hits for the Bulldogs.
The big blow for the Tigers in the first inning was a bases loaded triple by Matthew Wheeley that almost cleared the left field fence. The Tigers came right back in the top of the third inning scoring seven more runs started by Hayden Dean with a double followed by singles by Kaden Woodard and Ely Malo, a double by Hayes Polston, and a bases clearing double by Braxton Lloyd.
The Tigers started Freshman Gage Jones on the mound and he pitched very well allowing only an infield single by Bulldog shortstop in the third inning. Jones walked one batter while striking out five hitters. Chris Hackney pitched five innings for the Bulldogs allowing only seven earned runs while striking out three Tigers.
This game was a win-win for the Bulldogs and Tigers as a great crowd came to watch and the weather was great. The Tigers record this season is 13 wins and 9 losses and they remain 6-6 in district play. The Bulldogs and Tigers played every kid on the team that was healthy and this game needs to happen every year. What a great atmosphere we all enjoyed.
