Irene Roark

Irene D. Roark was born into this world on December 24, 1937, in Lafayette, Tennessee to the late Cordell Henderson Goad and Anna Martha Dotson Goad. On Saturday, May 6, 2023, the angels carried Irene to her Heavenly Reward, at the age of eighty-five years, four months, and thirteen days.

Irene was saved by The Lord’s Sweet Grace around the age of fourteen or fifteen. She was at The Highland Schoolhouse during revival, on the alter, and Irene kept seeing a bright light. She was reaching out towards that light and thought, if she could just reach the light, that everything would be ok. Irene reached out one last time and felt that peace come over her! When she came to and opened her eyes, Irene’s Daddy was standing in front of her. That bright light was shining all around him and all over the church house! Irene was a member at Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church and was faithful to attend as long as her health permitted.

She married Robert Gregory Roark on September 12, 1959. They were blessed with three sons, two daughters, and twenty-two years of marriage before Robbie’s passing on October 9, 1982. Irene was a seamstress at The Silk Mill here in Lafayette and retired in 1997. She loved spending time with her family and grandkids, as well as shopping with her daughter, Rhonda. Along with her parents and husband, Irene was also preceded in death by two of her sons, Russ Roark and Rob Roark; and her brother, Tony Goad. Irene will be dearly missed by family and friends, but our loss is truly Heaven’s gain!
